It was always going to be this game.
I knew it.
You knew it.
Even the Bears knew it.
The Rams beat the Bears in another amazing OT thriller during the NFL Divisional Round, and the matchup is now set. They’re headed back to Seattle next Sunday for the NFC Championship Game and a ticket to the Super Bowl.
I know I’ve done my fair share of dooming and glooming about the Seahawks lately, but I’ve fully come around. The Eagles’ hyperfixation is officially over. It’s back to old faithful.
I’ve been a Seahawks fan for nearly two decades now. Growing up in LA, we didn’t have a team, so I kind of floated until a family trip to Seattle in the summer of ’07 made the decision for me. The rest is history.
I drifted away from football for a while as life took over, and during that lull, I picked up the Eagles as a secondary team thanks to Jalen Hurts. That experiment ended last week against the 49ers, and now we’re back to our regularly scheduled Seahawks programming.
Which brings us round three with the Rams next weekend.
I know that after that last game, I wasn’t completely sold on things. I was worried about Darnold possibly shitting the bed at the worst time and throwing the game away. But you know what? I’m a believer now. Ginger Cuz is going to do just enough for us to win.
No hero ball. No forcing throws. Just moving the sticks and letting the rest of the team cook. With how this group is playing in all three phases, that’s more than enough. We don’t need a Matthew Stafford performance. Give me 150–180 yards, a touchdown or two, and let the defense handle the rest.
Because this defense? Unreal.
They’ve allowed just NINE points TOTAL in the last two games. The opening kickoff return touchdown against the 49ers on Saturday was enough to win the game. It’s unreal.
And that’s why I feel good about this matchup.
The Rams have survived, but they haven’t exactly thrived. They nearly lost to Carolina. They nearly lost to Chicago. Credit for pulling those games out, but that margin for error disappears against a defense like this.
As I was writing this, I saw NFL GameDay Final put up a graphic of the Seahawks-Rams matchups this season.
| Seahawks | Rams | |
| Points | 58 | 57 |
| Yards | 830 | 829 |
| Turnovers | 1 | 7 |
You don’t need to win the turnover battle when your defense is good enough to end drives before they ever start.
This team is just special. They have an air about them that I haven’t felt since the Legion of Boom years. Watching them makes me feel like I can run through a fucking brick wall. They’re just that. damn. good.
The Rams are good. This won’t be another 41–6 type game.
But I believe in this team too much to doubt them now.
Super Bowl, here we come.
